Few parties can rival the decadence of the Italian masquerade balls of the 15th and 16th century. Costumes were adorned with frills, feathers and other fripperies, while the namesake masks offered an anonymity that encouraged the most scandalous behaviour. Venetian Story mirrors such an affair. Like a courtesan at play, the scent slips effortlessly between the sweetness of powdery rose and the decadent mystery of caramel oud.

In If I Were, Ella Wheeler Wilcox celebrates a love that seems pre-destined by fate. Just as a raindrop lands on a leaf, just as a bee is powerless to resist the nectar of a flower in bloom, so too is her love nothing less than an act of nature.
