The story behind the scent
In Why I Love Her, the poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox tries in vain to quantify the nature of her love. Could it be the silken hair, that charming voice, or a smile “so innocent and free from guile” that attracts her? Ultimately she decides such a mission is futile – like a wisp of scent hanging on the air, love is far too mysterious for mere words.
